2012 Thus Far

Day seven of January 2012 and it feels like it's been a lot longer than a week since new years.  We started the new year with friends and games and it was great to reconnect in person with some friends we haven't seen in way too long.  Then it was back to Goderich Sunday afternoon to spend time with Poppy & June (one set of Josh's grandparents), play more games, and stay over night.  We drove back through some snowy weather and decided that either we need new tires for our van or else a new vehicle.  We voted for the new vehicle (we'd been planning to start looking in the spring, so what's a few months early matter).

Tuesday was back to work, and then an evening of searching autotrader and kijiji for possible new to us cars.  The whole process feels new, as last time we bought a vehicle we had the choice between either a blue 2000 dodge caravan or a green 2000 dodge caravan from the insurance auction.  (We picked the green... it was covered in sap and hence cheaper.  Ever since we have fondly referred to her as Sappy).

Wednesday was work again and then drive to Mississauga to check out a car and have dinner with my parents. Those plans ended up being scraped due to some poor planning (i.e. the car was not going to be in Mississauga after all, despite what the owner had originally suggested). As frustrating as that was, we ended up having a really relaxing evening. I think it turned out for the better. (If only I could have realized that in the moment).

Thursday I was in Etobicoke attending the last Avalanche youth retreat planning meeting and we spent the day fine tuning all the details.  I'm feeling very excited to be going back up to Muskoka Woods once again this winter to help out with this amazing event.  I'll be heading up the administration and guest relations team this year again and working with a whole new crew!  Should be very good times!  Then it was back to Hamilton to get a quick hair cut before picking Josh up from work.  Hair cut was not very quick (I made the mistake of explaining that as a chaplain I am a spiritual care therapist and from there the hair dresser wanted a free counselling session while cutting my hair) it took her 1 1/4 hours to trim 5 inches off, and I ended up being 30mins late getting Josh.  I love that I have an understanding and forgiving husband!!!

Friday was back to the hospital for work and then a surprise decision to have dinner with my parents in Mississauga and a missionary couple who was getting ready to fly back to Indonesia.  Listening to all they are involved with and their plans of moving to Rwanda in a few months has me really missing Kenya and my time there.  I would love to find a way back there.

Saturday was supposed to be a day of car shopping, however of the two cars we'd scheduled to see, only one was available.  And we never made it to the dealership we'd intended to go to so looks like it might be a bit before we actually purchase a car.  Josh is working tonight, so that leaves me here at home alone.... supposedly working on an article and paper I'm supposed to have ready for Monday and Friday.  Thus far I've cleaned up my office, added my new scrapbooking supplies to my stash, made a card, watch a movie I got for Christmas and now and writing a blog.  Procrastination seems to be something I'm struggling with a lot lately.  There are just so many other exciting things I'd rather do than sit in my cold office and slog through these two papers.  Oh well.
