The Pizza Blog

At Josh's request I'm writing this blog.....

Josh frequently makes home made pizza for us to enjoy... He's really gotten quite good at it and it's always a treat when I arrive home to discover we're having homemade pizza for dinner.  That said, we generally also tend to have a frozen pizza in the freezer for those nights when we just don't feel like putting any effort into making dinner.
Hence, the pizza blog.
Josh has decided he would like to discover what is the best frozen pizza out there... we have had some we have really found disappointing, and then we've had some we've really enjoyed.  So we are now offically keeping record of the frozen pizzas we try in hopes that we will narrow it down to the best.  Our pizza blog record begins with a Donatello's Cheezy Melt.  It was $3.00 from Walmart's grocery store (we were picking up pants for Josh and grabbed this for dinner while there).  It was surprisingly good, but tasted more like cheesy garlic bread than pizza.

What about you?  Have you found a perfect frozen pizza yet?  I'd love to hear your favourites!

mmmm.... pizza.

Dave's mom makes homemade pizza - there's no point of me even trying to top it! Like you, though, I tend to keep some frozen ones handy.

We're not very adventurous in the pizza department, and tend to just get whatever happens to be on sale for under $4 - typically Delissio or McCains. (I'd never pay the $7 full price for either of these brands!)

Delissio is greasy. Like, uber greasy. And they poke holes in their crusts, presumably so the grease has somewhere to escape. If you're like us and don't bother to use a baking sheet, the grease escapes to the bottom of the oven, where it blackens and smokes and creates a horrible mess. Delissio is also salty. Horribly, horribly salty. We've quit eating Delissio.

McCains, bless their souls, have taken on the 'natural ingredients' thing and list about 4 very pronounceable ingredients on the box. It is not greasy, doesn't drip, and the salt content is noticeably smaller - I don't feel like I might have a heart attack after eating it. Its nothing special, certainly not gourmet by any stretch, but it looks and tastes like pizza. Its the winner in our house.

Hmm... guess I could have written my own blog, eh?

Awesome idea! I love pizza :) and when we used to have that party size pizza with the 2L bottle of pop from papa luigi's every thursday. oh cherished memories. I think you should give the Dr. Oetker frozen pizza a try... i'd like to see how it stacks up to the other ones you've tried! the spinach one is my favourite, closely followed by the mozzarella one. They're the perfect size too... i can eat a whole one and i'm nice and full ( a little ashamed, but full). They're super tasty and don't necessarily taste like they've been frozen. My other go-to is the Delissio rising crust. I like the hawaiian variety! Ilike this one cause it's got a nice thick crust - super dough-y. it's certainly not perfect though. Just some suggestions for your pizza blog! ..oh! I almost forgot about my other favourite!! the pc brand party size pepperoni and riccotta pizza! i think it advertises it's immense weight right on the box. incredible! That's a pizza that will last for a few days... love the riccotta - it's a nice change from the usual toppings :D I miss that pizza since i shop at longos now.
happy pizza-ing!
