New Brunswick Report

So this is about a week late, but it made it up. New Brunswick was awesome!!! I traveled out east with three others to help at a conference called Springforth (actually four conferences held simultaneously in Moncton). As BCOQ interns we were shown around Moncton and PEI on our first day then we helped set up and run the teen conference. It was so neat to see how Christians in a different part of Canada do things so differently than we do here in Ontario, yet they are just as effective in their ministry. It was amazing to be a part of a large scale ministry again, it’s been a few years now since I’ve been able to do anything like that, but I intend to start getting way more involved in things like that.

It’s also really neat to see God speaking to so many different people in so many different ways. Because Springforth is a conference and not a retreat, it was primarily speaker and discussion group focused, so it was really neat to see different teens reacting differently to the various methods of presenting material. I also found it really neat how God spoke to me while I was there. Even though I felt very distracted during the speakers talk (mostly a result of being an intern and not a participant) but God really spoke to me through the one on one talks I had with various people throughout the retreat.

One specific conversation really stuck. I was chatting with the CBM (Canadian Baptist Ministries) rep who has been a missionary in Africa for the past 20 year, and I really feel that God may be calling me to do some short term ministry work. I would absolutely love to travel to Kenya with Josh and spend a couple weeks doing ministry there, but much will/would have to come together before anything like that could happen. But God can make amazing things happen, and so I know that if it’s something God wants me to do, it will come together. For now I’ll just wait and see.

Well, that’s the very short of my trip to New Brunswick. Perhaps I’ll give more details and post some pics when I get back to Hamilton again (I’m currently at my parents, and will be heading up to Josh’s family’s cottage for a few days so it may be a bit before I get around to it).
