Joining the Trend

With moving have come new routines.

Trying not to leave dishes left undone (that one's not going so well).

Actually doing homework in the office and not on the couch in front of the TV (that one is going very well).

But one of the biggest changes to my routine is not being able to walk Meeka down to the local park where we meet up with 2-7 other dog owners and their dog and then go for a leash free walk down the trail followed by some good old Frisbee play first thing in the morning. There are no areas up the mountain where we can play leash free, and Meeka needs more than just your typical walk. So... for the sake of my dog, I'm taking up running (first time since grade 7). I went out and bought some running shoes (haven't had those since I took up hiking with Josh and switched to hiking shoes), and dug out my MP3 player.

Now many of my other friends seem to have started getting healthy lately and have been bloging about their efforts, so inspired by one of them, I've started "Running With Robert." So far it seems to be going pretty well. I feel good and have two huge blisters on the back of my heels. They're not keeping me back though. I'm surprised by how much I look forward to my morning runs now. If only I could keep Meeka from trying to stop and smell everything all the time or from taking off much faster than I'm capable of running.

To be honest I find the whole situation rather entertaining... firstly unlike most normal people, I'm not taking up running to get healthier, but to keep my dog healthy, and secondly, that Josh has been trying ever since we got married to get me to start running with him (with no result). Now I'm running, and he's not.
