Pears Anyone?

One of the couples from our dog walking community has a pear tree.

This pear tree produced so much fruit that the owners for weeks have been trying to give away bags of fruit to all the other dog owners in the area (and anyone else they meet). Josh and I were given a bag of about a dozen pears and they were really good. Still though, the pears kept coming. Finally I mentioned one day that Josh makes wine... and they asked if we wanted to make a pear wine, and so I talk to Josh, and he decided he'd enjoy trying to make a pear wine. So we accept the offer to take some of the pears to try to make wine with them... Josh goes off to their place to pick up some pears and comes home with 3 recycling boxes just overflowing with pears!!! (and he didn't even take all the bins they had put aside for him!) So after spending two weekends with these pears we have one batch of pear wine on the go and I've canned 9 large jars of pears and we still have two recycle bins full of pears....

Pears anyone?!?

We'd also be open to other suggestions of what to do with large quantities of pears.

I'll take some pears!
Also you can make pear up-side down cake, pear squares, pear pudding... etc.
Does your friend know about the Fruit Tree Project from Environment Hamilton? They collect fruit for food banks (they even pick it!).
