So this CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education - a fancy was of saying chaplaincy training in a hospital) has been quite the experience so far. Six of us students have been pushed right into the middle of all the mess that chaplaincy can be and are being encouraged to discover our wings and learn how to fly. It has been a bit bumpy, totally exhausting, exhilarating, emotional, and an overall great experience thus far. I feel that I have grown more over these past two and a half weeks that I have in the past four months. I wake up eager to go, and I'm usually pretty excited about doing the assignments each evening. I can't believe it will be over in eight and a half weeks!
That said, I am also enjoying the freedom this CPE provides for my weekends. For the first time in months, i can totally take my weekends off and spend them doing whatever I want. Take for example, this weekend I get to go hiking on the Bruce trail with a bunch of people (I'm so excited). All we need now is warm and dry weather!!
I've also had some exciting news this week, I'm considering taking a year off of school beginning in September to help uncongest some of the "process" and to just get away for a while, and have hence applied for a CPE residency for the fall (it runs labour day to labour day). They have called me for an interview, so here's hoping that I will be able to clearly hear God in all of this.
