We left Friday evening at 4:00 from Chatsworth Ontario and drove and drove and drove.
We all took turns driving right through the night, and we all took turns sleeping too. (See Josh all cuddled up with Winklebottom). Our destination for our first day was Mount Rushmore, but we took a tour through the American Badlands on route - which turned out to be one of our most favourite stops dispite the fact that it was 113 decgrees there. 
After a couple hours in the Bad lands we continued on to Mt. Rushmore, which was prretty neat too. We went ot see Crazy Horse after Rushmore, but were really disapointed, then we spent the night in a KOA campground, drawing a close to the endd of a really long day (we drove for a total of 30 hours to get to that camp ground).
Sunday we headed for Yellow Stone park, and then we spent Monday morning checking out the 
gysers and hot springs. It was all pretty cool.

Monday afternoon we headed back towards Canada, end spent the night in a campground in the middle of the city of Lethbridge. 
Tuesday we visited Head-Smashed-In-Buffalo-Jump which was a pretty cool museum about hunting buffalo by running a heard of the edge of this cliff. It was pretty cool there. From there we headed into the Mountains once again hoping to make it to Jasper by evening. The land scapes were just breath taking! I've never seen anything like it. We stopped by Lake Louise and the Columbia Ice Field and then we continued on to a campground just outside of Jasper.
Wednesday morning we took a tram up Whistlers Mountain (note that is not Whistler) then hiked to the very top. The air was crazy thin, but it was so cool to see so far in every direction. We even got to see a furry Marmut up there. After descending the mountain again we headed into banff but didn't really see anything worthwhile there so we headed for Calgary. We stayed with Amy's cousin while in Calgary and enjoyed her "furry family" composed of a cat, a guiney pig, and a rabbit.
Thrusday we spent at the Calgary Stampede, which was lots of fun. We watched the rodeo, and a horse cutting competition and the superdogs show, as well as doing all kinds of other fun things there. We even got to eat some byson burgers (which i thought were really good). We spent thursday night with Amy's cousin again, then headed out early friday morning.
On Friday we visited Drum Heller and the dinasaur museum (which was really cool too... it's supposed to have some of the best Dinasaur displays in the world). Then we continued towards the boarder and to Cudworth SK for the Vanderstelt Family reunion.
Saturday and Sunday we spent at the reunion, which turned out to be a pretty fun time, and a nice break in the hecktic pace we'd become accustumed to. But once we left the reunion we went to Rouleau to check out the Corner Gas set. Then we managed to get lost in the crazy unmarked dirt highways of Saskatchewan as we tried to find a camp ground.
Monday we went back to Rouleau to buy sovineres, then we started the drive back to Ontario (taking a much slower pace). Tuesday was mostly spent on the road, but we did make it all the way to Thunder Bay. Wednesday we spent driving again, and managed to get our first speeding ticket just out side of Wawa, on the way to spending the night with Petra. On Thursday we headed for Sudbury (where we watched Harry Potter) so that on Friday we could spend the day at the big nickle and Science North (a day well spent). Then saturday we drove to Manitulin Island where we got to go for a trail ride on horse back (so much fun... so painful the next day), then sunday we took the Chi-cheemon (sp?) back to Tobermory then it was just a matter of driving back to Chatsworth and dropping Amy off (making one detour into Owen Sound to pick up a copy of Harry Potter).
So 9560 km later we are back where we started. But it was such an amazing two weeks!! I can't wait till we can go again!!!!
