Taiwan: Day 15

Day 15 was our last full day in Taiwan.  We had gone and seen everything we had wanted to see (except the southern tip of the island which is supposed to be very tropic with lots of sandy beaches, but that will have to wait for another trip to the other side of the world) and so we took it pretty easy.  We decided to try the hike that we couldn't find the trail for earlier in our trip, and with the help of a better map we found it.  The two pictures below are from the park that the trail starts in and are the only two picture I took on our last day.  It ended up raining so hard as we hiked along up into the mountains you can see in the pictures that I was afraid to take my camera out.  But it was a nice walk.  The views were limited because of the low clouds and all the rain, but we were glad to have done it.  It really made the trip feel like we'd done and seen everything we had come to do and see (despite the fact that we hadn't really planned any of our trip at all before arriving on Shannon and Mike's door step).  After our hike and drying off, we packed our bags, and for dinner we went back with Shannon and Mike to the first place we had eaten at.  Thinking back the difference between that first meal with Shannon and Mike and that last meal was significant.  We had seen so much, knew so much more about the culture (and the food!! we could actually pick thinks off the menu... the English menu mind you, but hey!), could produce a few words in Mandarin, but it was time to keep going.  Around 4am the next morning we fell out of bed, grabbed our bags and fell into a cab and headed to the airport and to Japan.
