Day Seven in Taiwan was a rainy day. Having arrived in central Taiwan the night before, we got an early start by cab to Lions Head Mountain. We started with a very short hike to a cave temple. You could hear the meditations being sung as we walked in the rain down the stairs and followed the river to the cave.
This temple was probably one of the least adorned temple we saw while in Taiwan. You can see it in the shot below.
This was just out front of the entrance to the temple, and is used for holding the incense as it burns. It was probably to most ornate thing in this temple.
The umbrellas on the stairs back up.... everyone had umbrellas....
I didn't take too many pictures of this hike because it was raining too much, but once and a while I pulled it out to capture something fun. This little bridge over a small river was so slippery. We actually stopped here to take pictures of a water fall (that's what Mike is looking at) but they didn't turn out very well because of the rain. So I caught this rare sight of Mike with an umbrella instead.
Wild banana tree! The bananas were not quite ripe yet.
Josh sheltering from the rain near the highest point of our hike.
A section of the long and winding road back down to where we started.
Another mountain temple along the way. Apparently there is a very large number of temples in this area. We only stopped to see the cave temple and this one.
Laughing Buddha
The high speed train pulling into the station. After spending the day hiking we headed back home on the train. Over all, it was a nice enough weekend, but not one of the most exciting or interesting days.
