A breif reflection on an Avalanche
Last weekend Josh and I had the privilege to help out at BCOQ’s youth retreat Avalanche. It was such an amazing weekend!!!! Josh was one of eight team captains, which means that he (along with his partner in crime) led about 150 youth for the weekend. He got them pumped for the events and hyped for the sessions. Dave Overhalt was the speaker for the retreat (Pastor of Church on the Rock) and the theme for the weekend we Born to Be… focusing on who we are Born to Be as Christians, specifically, with this age group he focused on being born to be a child of the king, a fan of Jesus and a few other things, but I missed those sessions. Why did I miss them? Because un-like Josh who was face to face with 150 youth all day long, I was doing administrative and guest relations sort of stuff (which I had a total blast doing – walkie-talkies are sooo much fun!). I spent the weekend very much behind the scenes working with Alvin (from BCOQ’s head office). It was such a great experience to just use my gifts and serve others joyfully. IT WAS GREAT!!! So what if we came home extremely short on sleep, and got sick a few days later… We’d both do it again in a second!
